  Welcome Back Scouts!

Welcome back to all returning Scouts and a welcome to all the new students who are considering joining Troop 969.  I hope everyone had a great summer and want to let you know the 2009-2010 year is starting up soon. We are looking forward to a fantastic year with lots of Scout events planned.

I would like to inform you of a few things about Troop 969. The Troop is chartered by Shanghai Community International Schools (SCIS) and run locally by parents who have volunteered their time and energy to bring the Scouting program to the boys involved in Scouts. The Parent Committee has created a Troop Handbook that provides guidelines for the troop and documents most of the troop positions and expectations. Each new scout will be given a copy of the handbook when they register at the troop meeting on August 26th or September 2nd. The rules governing our Troop are followed by all Scout Troops around the world.

We will be holding an “Open House” while continuing registration and uniform purchases during our meeting on September 2nd. We plan to offer pizza and snacks at the open house. Parents and boys are encouraged to come help kick-off the upcoming 2009/2010 season, and all scouts are encouraged to bring friends who may be interested in learning more about scouting.

Again, welcome back for another great year of scouting! I look forward to seeing all of you at the upcoming meetings. If you have any questions or comments please contact me or any of the troop leadership

Yours in Scouting,

Tom Price
