Youth Led Program
Troop 969 is a youth led organization. While the adult leadership and
committee provide the framework and high level guidance,
the scouts are responsible for planning meetings and activities. The basic element of
youth leadership is the Patrol
(see Troop Structure). Each patrol elects a patrol leader
and the troop as a whole elects the senior patrol leader and assistant
senior patrol leader. These youth leaders form the Patrol Leader
Council (PLC). The PLC meets monthly to plan the theme and activities for the month.
They also assign patrol
responsibilities for each troop meeting. In addition, scouts
are appointed to other youth leadership positions by the SPL.
Together these scouts form the youth leadership responsible
for the troop's day to day activities.
PARENTS: Get Involved Today!
We have a continuing need for adult leadership. In
addition to the Scout Master and Assistant Scout Masters
there are opportunities for service on the
Troop Committee, as a merit
badge counselor, or as a participant in scout Boards of
Review. Parents are always welcome, and encouraged, to
attend all troop activities including troop meetings and
outings. For more information on how you can be involved
visit our
Parents
page, or contact the
Scout Master
or any other scout leader.
